Hello, It's Me, Honey from the Bee

Handknit Wrap in brick and cement

Is it me you've been waiting for?

Sigh.  I can't believe I've only made one post this year.  I am pretty active on Instagram and Facebook via my business page and VIP group so I forget that many of you hear what's happening with me from my blog.  All I can promise is I'll try to do better.

I thought over the next few weeks I'd update you on my 2017 studio time and other stuff.

I've done a lot of knitting this past year mostly when the weather turns too cold to work in my garage studio space where I do my soldering and metal finishing.  Although I'm getting the itch to start designing my own patterns, I've been using purchased patterns and the creativity and handmade work comes in while choosing what fiber to use and knitting.  For me, like many knitters, it is a very zen activity where my mind is quiet and rejuvenating.  I do admit that I also use that time to binge watch all the shows I've missed when I've been busy designing and making jewelry or out exploring with my friends and husband.  I'm pretty addicted to many of the British series on Acorn TV.  It seems appropriate to be knitting during those.

Evidence of my fiber love can be found in my Luxury Fiber Accessories section of my shop.  I love all of them, but I do have some favorites.

Grey and White handknit cowl

Birch Cowl

(Benton pattern by Veronica Parsons)

When I found this yarn I knew I wanted a pattern that was textural to pick up on the wonderful peeling bark of the birch tree.

Painterly Cowl

Monet's Garden Cowl

(Painterly Cowl pattern by Casapinka)

This cashmere and silk blend cowl is so soft and the way it knit up reminded me not only of Monet's garden, but of Impressionism art with its dabs of color.

Radioactive Dragonfly Shawl

Dragonfly Shawl

(Talisman Shawl by Helen Stewart)

Oh my gosh this was so much fun to knit.  It was the first item I've knit with a gradient skein.  The colors are so vibrant and appropriately called Radioactive.

Dark Grey Lace Shawl

Fog - gray lace shawl

(Brookfield pattern by Annie Rowden)

This was my first really lacey shawl.  The surprise or its reality comes when you block it.  It turned out gorgeous and is a modern heirloom.

I don't want to stop sharing!

Lavender Lace Shawl

Wisteria Lace Shawl

(June Bunnies Shawl pattern by Inese Andzane)

Wisteria is one of my favorite plants and this yarn and pattern picked up on the colors and viney nature of it.

There are at least a couple more shawls that I'd love for you to check out in my shop, but for the finale I'll share a cowl that I find exquisite not only in color, but in its drape, design and addition of some vintage buttons in my stash!

Bronze Handknit Cowl

(Mud Puddles pattern by Scarlett Wadey)
