About Me

Whimsical Artisan Jewelry for the Adventurous Woman.

Throughout my life I've been intrigued by other cultures past and present.  My college major before I fell into computer programming was Anthropology.  You will see influences from other cultures, nature, and my own life in my work.  My jewelry might awaken memories and start a conversation or strike a chord of beauty or passion in you. Now that is a connection that is only made with Artisan Jewelry!

Most of my necklaces, bracelets , and brooches are one-of-a-kind creations. Many of my earrings are OOAK or at least limited, too.   My processes are broad as I'm a life-long curious learner.  I've been called meticulous (maybe not with that word!) and I'm okay with that. I call it pride or an inability to call something finished unless all aspects of a piece of my jewelry are well made. You'll appreciate the time I've spent so you can wear it today and for many tomorrows.

I've been fortunate to live in rural areas on both coasts of the U.S. and to see natural and man-made wonders throughout the world.  I love small towns where neighbors of every sort make an effort to get along and help each other.  Although I enjoy the beach - it's tide-pooling and finding flotsam that's my joy, rather than catching rays.

My brother helped me come up with the name for my business.  The first generation of my Scottish family in America had a general store called the Bie Hive.  My maiden name is Bie and I've always thought it would be cool to have a business name that reflected my love of family and unique ancestry.  After tossing some ideas around with him I settled on Honey from the Bee.

Around the turn of the last century I started out just selling to friends and family and doing art shows where I started building a local clientele.  I loved the personal and timely feedback that those venues provided.  However, after the success of online venues for selling handmade, I've found today that I can spend more time in my studio working on my art and more time interfacing with my clients in the comfort of their own homes.

I love how jewelry has a special place in a woman's heart.  It tells our history and a lot of about who we are today in a very personal way.  My jewelry was created from my story, but it's when it finds its new home that it really begins to live.
