Winslow Homer painting of a sailboat

Fishing Boats, Key West, 1903 by Winslow Homer

I'm so glad I finally had time to do an Art Bead Scene challenge again!  Where has the summer gone?

August's challenge inspired me right away.  I made a pair of earrings as well as a necklace and at least two more earring pairs that I think I'm going to make all from this inspiring painting by Winslow Homer.

Do read ABS' post as it describes this painting as well as gives some autobiographical information on Homer, an American painter.

I am intrigued by:
the fabric of the sails
the dark foreboding on the left hand side of the painting
the beautiful blues with that touch of red
the reflection on the water done in watercolor
I wasn't sure how I would reflect the sails, but as I was thinking about sailing and sailors I started shuffling through my drawer of vintage mother of pearl and found these creamy white pieces that spoke to me of white sails, sailor knots, guiding North Star, and a Sailor's Valentine.
