Bouquet

Bouquet by Flower Lady

Who doesn't love flowers?!  They delight both in color and scent and support our pollinating bees!

Sadly it's the scent and pollen that drives my husband into significantly long sneezing fits.  Over the years I've found I can have some bouquets in the house and he's fine while with others it gets so bad I have to put them outside.

I imagine the different words or thoughts that pop into an allergy prone person's versus mine when they see such a bouquet or an English garden filled with roses and lilies.  Both are completely valid reactions of course.  I feel sorry for those that suffer, as they cannot enjoy the joy in flowers fully.  I have to admit the other's reaction annoys me at times when it means I have to compromise!  There's a lesson there in today's current political climate, I just know it!

The bouquet above didn't last long in our house, but fortunately I was able to pass it on to new friends so it did bring joy doubly.

So far so good with the bouquet above.  After the holiday decorations were put away the house seemed so cold so I took a chance with this one.  I've got just a couple of plants outside that have started to bloom:  rosemary and I think something in the allium family.  The iris will be a couple months yet.

Another way I get my flower fix is through art.  My husband and I recently took a short trip to Cambria and both loved an artist that portrays some of the gardens that thrive there.  I'm crossing fingers that when I go back the end of this month I'll be able to purchase one that we both liked.

I think my Garden Party earrings lift the spirits, too.  You'll need to scroll through the earrings available to find them all.

share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another's,

smile at someone and receive a smile in return,

are to me continual spiritual exercises."  Leo Buscaglia

Allergy Sufferer

I feel for you, Janet. As an allergy sufferer, I can't tolerate certain flowers and plants, either. On some days in the Spring, I can't even venture outside! We've found that some artificial flowers and plants really spruce up our house, though. In Half Moon Bay we've found some that look incredibly real, and they sit in glass vases with incredibly real-looking "water." But of course there is no luscious scent, so I guess they're just the next-best thing to real nature. :( We do have a huge piece of flower art in our bedroom that we both like, so I hope you and Marc likewise find something you love in Cambria!

Dear Paula -

I know you suffer a lot, too. Something set Marc off last night and we were inside! It's hard to even know sometimes what is causing the problem. Unfortunately either I didn't like the paintings the same or the ones that caught our eye last trip were sold. Now that I know what we want in that spot though we'll be able to be focused in looking for something. I'm curious about the Half Moon Bay flowers you found, because I do hate fake looking ones and would love to see what you found. XO
