Celtic Inspired Balance Necklace

Only 1 left in stock

Using the Celtic symbol for balance I've created this bold statement necklace.

The balance medallion is created from a circle of copper and a sawn sterling silver swirl emblem.  After soldering the two together I added a lot of texture with hammers and tools.  Then I formed it and added a patina that brings out that texture.

I'd recently purchased some skeleton keys and thought it would be the perfect addition to the message in this necklace.  This particular skeleton key is from the Norwalk Lock Company of Connecticut.  It was started in 1856 by Ebenezer Hill and some other prominent businessmen.  You can read more about its history in this Historic SoNo post.

Using calipers I determined the balancing point of the pendant with key since a pendant that doesn't hang straight is annyoying.  I love that it appears off kilter!

The necklace part is aged copper over steel.  I've created a pelican clasp from bronze wire and dangled a lampwork bead from the other end of the necklace.

Adjustable from 18 to 23 inches.

Key is 3 3/8" wide.  The copper and silver medallion is 2 inches in diameter.  The length of the key and medallion pendant is 3.25 inches long.

The spiral emblem is a celebration of the three aspects of the female journey:  maiden, mother, and crone.  Also known as the Triskele or triple spiral.
