Artisan Pendant featuring Garnet, Sparrow, and leaf tassel
Do you know the story of the swallows returning each year to the mission at San Juan Capistrano? (See link below) It was the inspiration behind my garnet and copper patina'd bird and leaf fringe necklace. I'm thrilled with the way it turned out.
I love swallows: the way they dip and soar like fighter pilots on a mission. (pun intended) They are on a mission of course, as they eat bugs by the thousands!
This swallow is flying in front of a beautiful silver braided wreath while a fringe of garnet rosary chain dangles below with a couple of scattered metal leaves. All the metal stampings are 3-d with pattern on the back as well so no worries if the necklace moves around a bit while wearing.
I found a vintage chain in my stash that was the perfect length and match for the piece. It's about 19.5 inches in length with a lobster clasp. Jump rings in rosy hues are made from anodized aluminum and add just the right touch of color and function.
