I fell in love with cabochons first. Next I had to figure out how I was going to use them in jewelry. Before my metals class that taught me how to play with fire and metal I bought books by Jamie Cloud Eakin and Heidi Kummli to learn how to capture cabochons with seed beads, something I had plenty of.
