My shop is open once again! For over a month I closed it, as everything was just so confusing about what was safe to do and how horrible was it going to get. It felt like there were so many things more important to focus on and others to help. That's still true in many parts of our country and the world.

The Harvest

This rare Marra Mamba Tiger eye cabochon is only found in the Hamersley Ranges of the Pilbara region in Western Australia. I paired it with an antique brass button from my collection.

It reminded me of wheat fields in eastern Washington, specifically the Palouse region where the golden rolling hills are blown by the winds in waves. The fields go on for miles and miles and I get a similar feeling as I do when watching the ocean waves. Serenity.

Many of our vacations have either been solely for fishing or included fishing. Except for one trip they were all incredibly beautiful places with wildlife on land and sea. To find really good fishing you have to be willing to go remote and we've done that a few times with a few harrowing tales to go along with them.

I learned a lot by creating in a series rather than one-offs. By focusing on one idea or element I was able to broaden my thought, deepen my meaning, and curate a collection.

In this next set of mixed media pendants and necklaces I expanded beyond talisman to story telling which is my favorite kind of art.

I think my Chicken and Egg pendant was destined for greatness. I named her Optimist after all. She was a few years in the making as I described in an earlier post. She'll always be one of my favorite pendants of all time.

Belle Armoire Magazine did it again and created a lovely page for my pendant. Isn't she adorable?!

What Came First? Chicken or the Egg?

In this case the chicken! As a lifelong creator and learner I've taken quite a few workshops in my life. I like to experiment and try new things. The older I get the more time I have to do so and the greater benefit to my brain and art I think. Years ago I took a class on electroforming and promptly came home and took some small plastic chickens and gave them a coating of copper. Then they found themselves in a jar since I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but they made me smile every time they caught my eye.
