Inspiration from the Palouse region of Eastern Washington

The Harvest

This rare Marra Mamba Tiger eye cabochon is only found in the Hamersley Ranges of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.  I paired it with an antique brass button from my collection.

It reminded me of wheat fields in eastern Washington, specifically the Palouse region where the golden rolling hills are blown by the winds in waves. The fields go on for miles and miles and I get a similar feeling as I do when watching the ocean waves. Serenity.

Something Fishy Going on Around Here

Fishing lure pendant

Some husbands play golf while others build furniture or rebuild cars in their garage workshops.  Mine fishes.

Yukon fishing

Inconnu Lodge, Yukon 2001

Many of our vacations have either been solely for fishing or included fishing.  Except for one trip they were all incredibly beautiful places with wildlife on land and sea.  To find really good fishing you have to be willing to go remote and we've done that a few times with a few harrowing tales to go along with them.

Flowers can Make you Sneeze

Bouquet

Bouquet by Flower Lady

Sadly it's the scent and pollen that drives my husband into significantly long sneezing fits.  Over the years I've found I can have some bouquets in the house and he's fine while with others it gets so bad I have to put them outside.

Personal Totem Jewelry

Boho necklace

Heart Key Talisman Necklace

(Key by Gary Wilson)

I feel I create my most magical jewelry when in an extreme mood whether that is feeling joyful or troubled.  It's because I allow myself to be drawn in and focused on a story or idea.  The past few years have had a few more such moments than some others.

These three personal totem necklaces or what I like to call talismans were created in a couple of weeks this past summer when for my sanity I needed to spend more time in my studio and much less time online.
