"I am a part of all who I have met;" from Alfred Lord Tennyson's Ulysses
Honey from the Bee is me, Janet Bocciardi. Creating art has always been the way I've stayed in touch with who I am. When someone sees something I've made and must make it their own, it completes the creation and starts a new chapter with the new owner.
I love creating something beautiful and interesting that strikes up a conversation - it awakens memories and brings out the unique beauty in each one of us.
I've been fortunate to live in semi-rural areas on both coasts of the U.S. and to see natural and man-made wonders throughout the world. Although I enjoy the beach - it's tide-pooling and finding flotsam that's my joy rather than catching rays.
My processes are broad, but you'll see color, texture, nature and historical influences in all of my pieces and a story that wanted to be told.
Some may wonder how my business name came about. My maiden name was Bie, pronounced Bee. My first American Bie ancesters opened a general store called the Bie Hive in Forestville, NY in the late 19th century. I have always loved this fanciful use of our surname and wanted a name that honored my heritage and reflected my offering.
For the tremendous support of my husband, family and friends (you know who you are!) I thank you with all my heart. I love you very much!
